About the Artist
My name is Medley Byers. I have lived, worked, volunteered, and created in Central Indiana my whole life.
I feel that design is design... the same principles of line, form, color, texture, and function, for example, are used whether one is styling a bracelet, a breadbox, or a building.
With a lifelong love of creating, an early start in the visual arts, and an architecture degree, I have always strived to integrate design principles to make my projects appealing and useful.
My earliest jewelry designs were heavily influenced by Native American culture of the 1800's, but my influences have expanded to include many other cultures and eras.
I have been creating beaded jewelry since the mid-1990's. Primarily self-taught from books, I've continued to learn new methods and media over the years, introducing wire wrapping and chain maille to an extensive repertoir of on- and off-loom beading techniques.
Ethics are an essential part of any business; here's what I stand for:
I support small business. Entreprenurialism the cornerstone of our country and our economy.
I support buying locally whenever possible. Please support your local artists as well as shopping online.
I support handmade. I make as many gifts as possible, and when I don't have time, I prefer to buy handmade than commercially made.
I support giving back to the community. Feast Your Eyes Jewelry has contributed jewelry to several silent auction fundraisers as well as money from sold jewelry to animal welfare and cancer awareness and research organizations.
Most of all, I believe in the Golden Rule, and will try to be courteous, prompt and fair in all of my business dealings.
